16) Quran Study: Surah 59, 64, 70:1-14
Study From Behrouz 616, Sura 64 By Rashad, Nothing Happens Except, Sura 70 By Edip, Worry Chastity
(0:01) And he is omnipotent. (0:05) This is a heavy verse right there. (0:08) Glorifying God is everything in the heavens, and everything on earth. (0:15) And this includes things, includes the bodies of the disbelievers. (0:21) Because the disbeliever does not control his heartbeats. (0:25) There's a specific number of heartbeats, and the disbeliever does not control that. (0:29) God controls that. (0:31) So the human body is glorifying God. (0:33) Every atom in your body, every atom in this carpet, in this wall, is glorifying God. (0:41) We have chemists and physicists here, and they know that every atom in the wall or the floor or the ceiling, inside this light, every atom has a nucleus and a certain number of electrons, and they're continuously moving in a specific way. (0:59) It's a microcosm of the cosmos. (1:07) Glorifying God is everything in the heavens, and everything on earth. (1:10) To Him belongs all kingship. (1:14) God is the one who hires you or fires you. (1:17) God is the one who determines how many dollars you get. (1:21) Not anybody else. (1:22) God decides the provisions. (1:27) Somebody was telling me today that they were getting another child, and somebody asked, can you afford it? (1:34) That's the wrong question. (1:36) The question is not, can you afford it? (1:38) The question is, can God afford it? (1:40) Because God is the one who brings the people into this world, and God is the one who provides for them. (1:46) When a child is born, God provides for that child. (1:50) Not you. (1:55) To Him belongs all kingship, and to Him belongs all praise. (1:58) He is omnipotent. (2:03) These are all important attributes of God that we must know. (2:09) Omnipotent means He backs up His guarantee. (2:13) And He guarantees you perfect happiness if you are in His domain, if you follow, if you do your part, carrying out the commandments, God will do His part. (2:21) Perfect happiness, success in everything you do, guaranteed. (2:26) God's guarantee or warranty is much better than General Motors' guarantee or warranty. (2:33) When you have a warranty from Lee Iacocca, you have confidence in it, because He backs up His warranty, 7 years or 7,000 miles. (2:44) And you take this piece of paper, and you're happy with it. (2:47) Well, God is omnipotent, and He guarantees your happiness. (2:54) It's true. (2:56) God is giving you a warranty in this Quran. (2:59) And He says, if you do your part, I will do my part. (3:02) This is in Surah 2 at the beginning, as you know. (3:05) It says, do your part, I'll do my part. (3:10) And our part is nothing. (3:13) What is it? (3:13) Five prayers a day, fasting the month of Ramadan, are things that are good for us. (3:16) This is our part. (3:18) It's like God is saying, come, you're going to be happy, and I'm going to give you all the money you want and all the health you want, on condition that you do your part. (3:27) A lot of people say, no, I don't want to be happy and healthy. (3:30) I want to be miserable. (3:32) You don't want to... (3:34) Yes. (3:38) Now, God's part is overwhelming. (3:41) It's great. (3:44) Verse number 2. (3:45) So the word omnipotent backs up this guarantee. (3:50) The guarantee is outright in the Quran, 23 times in the Quran. (3:53) God guarantees you perfect health. (3:56) For example, in Surah 10, verse 62. (3:59) I'd like to go back to this, because a lot of people can't envision. (4:04) They can't envision that God controls every atom in their bodies and can't decide how much health they have. (4:10) When God tells you, I'll give you perfect health, when you do your part, God, the omnipotent, means that. (4:21) You have to share the new Quran, Greg, with somebody. (4:27) This is the importance of omnipotence. (4:31) Okay, in Surah 10, verse 62, God says, absolutely, God's allies, or God's people, have nothing to fear, nothing to worry about. (4:45) And then it gives you the description of these people. (4:48) It says, those who believe and lead the righteous life. (4:51) Those who believe in God and they lead the righteous life. (4:54) They're nice people, they're honest, truthful, and God is their God. (5:01) God is always in their mind. (5:03) In everything they do, everything they say. (5:05) Those who believe and lead the righteous life. (5:08) For them is happiness in this world. (5:11) I'm quoting now, quoting those verses. (5:13) Verse 62 of Surah 10. (5:15) For them is happiness in this world. (5:17) And this is God speaking. (5:19) And in the hereafter. (5:21) So this warranty, or guarantee from God, is repeated 23 times in the Quran. (5:30) Now as you know, Satan tricks the other people who deviate from the Quran, and they have other sources like Hadith and Sunnah, and God knows what. (5:42) All kinds of sources besides the Quran. (5:44) The number one Hadith goes like this. (5:48) The most righteous among you is the most miserable. (5:51) This is a very famous Hadith. (5:53) Because Satan knows that he cannot give them happiness. (5:57) And actually the Hadith goes on and says, the most miserable are the Prophets, and then the Saints, and then the Believers. (6:03) That's right. (6:05) And this is an authentic Bukhari Hadith. (6:08) And goes directly against the Quran. (6:11) The Quran says otherwise. (6:12) Those who believe and lead the righteous life are guaranteed happiness. (6:19) I'm going to go back a little bit again, and talk about the title of the Surah. (6:23) Mutual Blaming. (6:26) Mutual Blaming is one of the names of the Day of Judgment. (6:29) It's called the Day of Resurrection. (6:31) It's called the Day of Judgment. (6:33) It's called the Day of Reckoning. (6:35) It's called the Day of Mutual Blaming. (6:38) Because this is the day when a lot of people will be blaming each other. (6:42) You're the one who told me this. (6:43) No, you're the one who told me this. (6:45) You took me out of that place. (6:46) You took me into that place. (6:49) So there will be mutual blaming. (6:52) In fact, the people of Hell will spend eternity beating each other, and thanking each other for beating each other. (7:03) So if you give me ten kicks, I'll give you ten kicks. (7:05) Okay. (7:07) Mutual Blaming. (7:08) One of the names of the Day of Judgment. (7:11) Verse two says, He is the one who created you, then among you there is the disbeliever and the believer. (7:18) God is fully seer of everything you do. (7:25) There are only two kinds of people. (7:27) People in God's kingdom, and people in Satan's kingdom. (7:32) There's nothing else. (7:33) No other choices. (7:34) Although there are categories within each section. (7:37) For example, Satan's kingdom has the disbelievers and the hypocrites. (7:43) And both of them fall under the bigger category of disbelievers. (7:48) Other names for believer and disbeliever is appreciative and unappreciative. (7:53) These are other names. (7:54) Appreciative of God, or unappreciative. (7:57) And we're going to get to this in Surah 76. (8:00) Not today. (8:04) But these are the other synonyms of believer and disbeliever. (8:07) Appreciative and unappreciative. (8:10) Because God gave you a lot of good things in advance. (8:15) And then He asked you to show your appreciation. (8:19) Let us take, for example, your eyes. (8:21) Just your eyes. (8:23) And I've shared this with some of you before. (8:26) If you're walking out in the street and somebody puts a gun to your head, and he says, your eyes or five prayers a day, what will you do? (8:34) Not your eyes or your money. (8:37) You're going to say, you either give me your eyes or promise me to do five prayers a day. (8:41) What will you choose? (8:44) If this is real. (8:45) That's right. (8:46) Easily, right? (8:47) So God gave you your eyes in advance. (8:52) If you want to appreciate them, just close your eyes for a couple of minutes. (9:01) It's something that we take for granted. (9:04) I hope none of you is colorblind, but if you look around and you see the red, the blue, and the green, all these nice colors, God's people are perfect anyway. (9:15) You notice. (9:19) Alhamdulillah, thank God we all have two eyes each. (9:23) So God gave you these eyes in advance and He said, you do five prayers a day. (9:30) Appreciative and unappreciative. (9:31) The people who are not worshiping God alone are not appreciative. (9:38) And as I mentioned, the lungs or the kidneys, nobody will want to substitute God's kidneys for the technologically advanced artificial kidneys that they have. (9:54) They're small now. (9:56) They're only about six feet tall and four feet wide and three feet deep. (10:01) And these are the most advanced kidneys. (10:07) They take the patient blood completely into the machine and it's not as good. (10:12) You should see those people. (10:14) So we thank God. (10:16) He gave you all these things in advance. (10:22) Number three. (10:24) He created the heavens and the earth for a specific purpose. (10:29) Designed you and perfected your design. (10:33) Then to Him is the final destiny. (10:38) Footnote 64.3 It says, We are in this world due to God's immense mercy and most gracious will to redeem us after we committed a gross blasphemy. (10:50) See the introduction in Appendix 7. (10:54) A lot of people say, Why did God bring me here? (10:56) I didn't want to come here. (10:58) Because they don't understand why we are here. (11:01) If they read the Quran, they will know why we are here. (11:05) And they will realize that we committed a gross crime billions of years ago and God decided to give us a chance to redeem ourselves, to denounce idol worship. (11:16) But the majority of people insist on idol worship. (11:20) The vast majority of Christians insist on worshiping Jesus. (11:24) And the vast majority of Muslims insist on worshiping Muhammad. (11:28) It's just the human nature. (11:30) We are all humans. (11:32) And the Quran makes that statement in advance. (11:35) It says, Most people, no matter what you do, will not believe. (11:38) Because God knows these are the creatures who committed that blasphemy billions of years ago. (11:45) And I don't want to bore you with repetition of what it is. (11:52) And then God says that of the minority that will believe, the majority will fall in idol worship. (12:02) Because God knows, I mean, this is what brought us here. (12:05) We did not uphold God's absolute authority. (12:09) And this is why we have that tendency to idolize saints and prophets. (12:16) The vast majority of people fall in that trap. (12:19) So he created the heavens and the earth for a specific purpose, which is redeeming those among us who deserve to be redeemed. (12:30) So we can go back and rejoin God's kingdom. (12:35) If we fail, then we will be exiled from God's kingdom. (12:39) And that is hell. (12:42) It only makes sense, like I told you at noon today, if you're a chairman of the board of a company, you don't want the lazy employees. (12:49) It will cause the company to lose. (12:54) And instead of God firing us completely, he said, I'll give you a chance to educate yourselves, redeem yourselves, and then come back to me. (13:03) This is the specific purpose. (13:06) God designed you and perfected your design. (13:12) And the design of the human being is fantastic. (13:15) And we're never tired from describing it. (13:23) Like I was using somebody the other day to give the example. (13:27) We can use Greg now. (13:28) See, Greg is scratching his face. (13:31) His hand is like this, but it goes like that, and then it turns and scratches his face. (13:35) He takes it for granted. (13:37) But this is quite a design. (13:39) There are two bones in your arm here that can go around each other. (13:43) So it can go like this. (13:45) I mean, how many times do you take it for granted? (13:47) You go like this. (13:49) You don't even think. (13:52) God perfected our design. (13:55) Can you scratch every part of your body? (13:59) This is God's design. (14:04) Your arm is not too short. (14:05) You can reach every inch of your body. (14:08) Not me, but... (14:12) If I maintain the natural weight, I will. (14:17) So it's my fault. (14:20) If there is any flaw in your design, it's your fault. (14:33) Designed you and perfected your design. (14:39) Anything that goes wrong, this is very important, because people will tell you, how about the person who's crippled? (14:48) It's very important to understand that that person is a victim of Satan. (14:53) Something... (14:54) They remove themselves from God's protection. (14:58) And that caused Satan's victimizing them. (15:03) And the perfect example that we know, and we talked about it before many times, is Rabbi Kushner of Boston. (15:10) Rabbi Kushner of Boston. (15:12) His book is full of blasphemies against God, unfortunately. (15:17) Not all the Jewish people are like that, but he is a rabbi, and he should know better. (15:23) He wrote this book, When Bad Things Happen to Good People, and he totally misunderstands, he does not understand Satan's role at all. (15:31) And he says that the bad things happen because God cannot control everything. (15:35) God is not omnipotent, according to him. (15:38) His book is just full of blasphemies. (15:39) Now what happened to him, his son was born with this progeria disease, this rapid aging disease. (15:47) And in 14 years, he died. (15:50) So what happened was, Rabbi Kushner, by blaspheming against God in this manner, he removed himself from God's protection. (15:59) And Satan fooled around with the embryo, with his son, when he was inside the mother. (16:06) And the child was born defective. (16:09) So whose fault is it? (16:13) The child was victimized by Satan. (16:16) And Rabbi Kushner was victimized by Satan, in the same way. (16:22) Because God guarantees your health through the angels, God's angels. (16:28) God has some of the best surgeons in the world. (16:30) If anything wrong happens to your body, they can go in your body and fix it. (16:36) Alaykum salam. (16:38) And Satan has the same ability, because he was an angel. (16:43) So remember that anything, any flaw, is a result of Satan's interference. (16:49) But when you look around here, this is the basic design of God. (16:55) He designed you and perfected your design. (16:58) Then to him is the final destiny. (17:00) He gave you two eyes. (17:02) Because some people have accidents, they lose one eye. (17:04) So they have another spare. (17:08) Even though everyone is perfectly guarded, nothing happens against the will of God. (17:16) And God promises to protect you as long as you are in His domain. (17:22) He gave us two kidneys, in case one of them stops for some reason. (17:27) And remember, two ears and one mouth. (17:32) I should learn from this and stop talking. (17:36) And put on the spot here, because General Spooner went AWOL. (17:40) He was supposed to be here talking. (17:43) He called from Memphis today. (17:44) He's alright, by the way. (17:51) Okay, verse 3 ends by the statement, to him is the final destiny. (17:57) Okay, so every one of us is going to go back, and if we did our part, we would be prepared to join God's kingdom. (18:04) If we did not do our part, and we did not develop ourselves, we would not be able to be there physically. (18:14) God forbid. (18:15) The people who did not prepare themselves will go to hell on their own volition. (18:21) God will not put anybody in hell. (18:25) They will go to hell on their own volition. (18:27) And we have examples. (18:29) The bugs. (18:30) You put the light fixture on and you screw it in very tight and still the bugs, they work very hard to work through this thread and go inside to die. (18:39) This is how the human beings do. (18:40) They work very hard to go to hell. (18:44) God gives us lots of examples in this world. (18:51) Number 4, verse 4. (18:56) He knows everything in the heavens and the earth. (18:59) And He knows everything you conceal and everything you declare. (19:03) God is fully aware of the innermost thoughts. (19:07) Do you ever come across people who think that God is not aware of them? (19:11) You say, who am I? (19:11) God doesn't pay attention to me. (19:15) They think God doesn't see them. (19:18) But this verse here is telling us God is fully aware of every single ant. (19:24) There are some termites in this building somewhere. (19:27) We are not aware of them, but God is. (19:30) And He knows how much they are supposed to eat and when to stop them. (19:37) God is fully aware of every single creature. (19:40) Every single atom. (19:43) He knows everything in the heavens and the earth. (19:46) And He knows everything you conceal and everything you declare. (19:55) We just cannot have a complete comprehension of God's omnipotence and power. (20:02) Look how He created you. (20:03) And the blood pumping in your body in a perfect design. (20:13) If you sleep in your arm for a couple of hours at night and the circulation is not right. (20:18) You get a nightmare or something to move you. (20:23) Because the circulation has to be perfect. (20:32) He knows everything you conceal and everything you declare. (20:45) So if you do your part, God is aware of it. (20:47) Everything is recorded. (20:53) Consciousness of God is very important. (20:55) Wherever you go, just remember God is with you. (20:59) You must be conscious that God is with us here right now. (21:02) He is aware of everything we are doing. (21:04) He is aware that you are here to study His message. (21:07) You want to redeem yourself and go back to God. (21:10) Join His kingdom. (21:12) God is aware of that. (21:17) These are heavy verses. (21:24) Verse number five says, Have you noted those who disbelieved in the past and suffered the consequences of their decision? (21:31) They incurred a painful retribution. (21:37) God is teaching us from the past history. (21:41) And these are factual observations. (21:44) We know that Pharaoh drowned in the sea. (21:47) We know that. (21:49) We know that Moses and the believers crossed the Red Sea. (21:53) There were no bridges then. (21:55) No Golden Gate Bridge. (22:00) But they crossed the Red Sea from Egypt to Sinai. (22:05) We know Pharaoh drowned and his body is full of salt in the Cairo Museum. (22:13) Have you noted those who disbelieved in the past and suffered the consequences of their decision? (22:19) And usually it is the end that counts. (22:26) The believers may go through a purification process, a polishing process like the stone that goes through a lot to become a gem. (22:38) But these polishing machines are very severe. (22:42) So the believer may go through that, but he or she will emerge like a gem in the end. (22:48) And all these guarantees will be fulfilled. (22:51) The purpose of a purification process is just that, purification, to make you a perfect human being, a person who does not lie, cheat, trustworthy, righteous, purification. (23:11) And God will take each one of these at a time and cleanse you from it through a polishing process. (23:19) Remember Shahan's khutba on Friday when he didn't want to do the push-ups? (23:26) See, he's young and he's going through the polishing process. (23:31) But he will emerge like a gem. (23:36) Purification process done by the master purifier. (23:43) But those who disbelieve, their end is always bad, always. (23:48) Their last 15 or 20 years are the most miserable years of their lives. (23:54) And the opposite is true with the believers. (24:00) I think tonight we're going to come to the law that says that nothing happens to you except in accordance with God's will. (24:09) That's one of the two important laws. (24:11) The other law says nothing happens to you except as a consequence of something you have done. (24:17) These are negative, negative. (24:18) Nothing happens except as a consequence of your work. (24:30) I was talking to my nephew this morning in Egypt, and he was telling me that he's doing everything right, and he wonders why he gets some problems. (24:42) So I went with him through a typical day or something, and discovered he doesn't do the morning prayer. (24:48) Maybe once a week he does the morning prayer before sunrise. (24:52) So I taught him the law. (24:54) I said the law is nothing happens to you except as a consequence of something you have done. (24:59) I told him that God loves him and wants him to do the morning prayer. (25:05) This is probably what God is choosing at this time to purify him. (25:13) Every time he misses the morning prayer, he gets a pinch until he does the correlation and realizes that God is aware of him and like his watch, as if he's the only one on earth. (25:25) And whenever he misses the prayer, he gets the pinch. (25:28) The correlation is immediate. (25:30) And this is why we have also the other law that says worship God in order to attain certainty. (25:38) This is how you attain certainty, because with this immediate correlation, you're going to realize that God is watching you as if you're the only person in the universe. (25:48) And when you make a mistake, you get a pinch. (25:52) It's a kind pinch. (25:55) It hurts, but it gets your attention. (26:04) It doesn't hurt permanently. (26:05) It is the kind that is restorable. (26:08) God's pinches are all restorable. (26:10) You don't lose a finger, for example, because you cannot restore that. (26:14) But you get a pinch that is restorable. (26:18) You get a headache, for example, because the headaches go away. (26:21) You lose a few dollars, but you can get them back, multiplied many fold. (26:31) So this verse, number five, reminds us of these two laws, two important laws. (26:38) Don't forget them. (26:41) I think we're going to get to the one that says nothing happens except in accordance with God's will. (26:44) I believe it is in this surah. Speaker 5 (26:48) Oh, okay. Speaker 1 (26:49) And the other law says nothing happens to you except as a consequence of your work. (26:54) Nothing happens. (26:56) I mean, it's quite a statement. (26:57) It begins with the statement, nothing. (27:01) الله بإذن إلا المصیبة أصابر ما It starts with a negative. (27:07) Number six. (27:09) This is because their messengers went to them with clear proofs. (27:14) But they said, shall we follow humans like us? (27:19) They disbelieved and turned away. (27:21) God does not need them. (27:23) God is in no need, praiseworthy. (27:26) See, they made a mistake when they said, shall we follow humans like us? (27:30) Because the messengers are not the ones that are being followed. (27:36) It is God's instructions that are being followed. (27:40) The messenger is one of the people around who is the same as they are. (27:45) And he himself is required to follow the instructions. (27:48) So we are all following God when we look at God's teachings and follow them. (27:57) But their ego is an important test. (28:02) So we are told that the painful retribution that is in verse five came to these people because their messengers went to them with clear proofs. (28:12) When Moses threw the staff, became a serpent in front of Pharaoh and swallowed everything else, they still did not believe. (28:22) God made the Nile into blood in front of them. (28:25) They couldn't drink for seven days. (28:28) And they told Moses, ask your God to give us water again. (28:32) We will believe. (28:34) As soon as he became water again, he said, no, no, no, no. (28:39) We will not believe. (28:40) I mean, what is this? (28:45) Frogs. (28:45) Mice. (28:48) Locusts. (28:49) Nine plates. (28:51) And every time they said, ask God to relieve this and we will believe. (28:54) And then they reneged. (28:59) So God is fair. (29:01) When they drowned in the Red Sea, they deserved that. (29:04) But God gave them enough warnings. (29:09) This is because their messengers went to them with clear proofs. (29:15) In this day and age, we have the mathematical code of the Quran proving this is God's word. (29:22) But they still make all kinds of excuses to avoid it. (29:39) Number seven. (29:42) I will go back to six. (29:44) God's proofs are always clear and overwhelming, as we are experiencing right here in this mosque. (29:51) The mathematical miracle of Quran, as you will see, I am writing it now in appendix one, is just overwhelming. (29:59) I am using here just the word God as an example. (30:02) And this alone is enough to prove that this is not human made. (30:07) Because the word God... (30:09) Now here we are in the 20th century using computers and we are sophisticated, educated people, three of us, Lisa, Emily, and myself. (30:19) We are working on these numbers, the number of the word God. (30:22) We are not writing them. (30:23) We are not inventing anything. (30:25) We are just counting them, keeping track of them. (30:28) And you have no idea how many mistakes we make. (30:33) Computers and all. (30:37) So it makes us appreciate the miracle even more. (30:43) I was typing a number 2492, 2492, for example. (30:47) And I switched the 9 and the 2. (30:50) Look at 2429. (30:51) So I was off by about 70. (30:55) And there are many other examples where I was off by 1 or 2. (30:59) But the Quran is perfect. (31:03) 2698 of them. (31:05) That is 19 times 142. (31:08) And if you take the verses wherever you see the word God. (31:12) For example, in this page we have verse 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8, and 9. (31:19) You take these numbers. (31:21) In the whole Quran wherever you see the word God and add them up, the total is 118123 which is also a multiple of 19. (31:29) And this will be printed on the last page of the Quran. (31:32) This alone proves that this is not human made. (31:37) I just don't see how they will face God on the Day of Judgment. (31:41) People who can look at this and still reject it. (31:45) I'm just trying to emphasize the word clear proof. (31:49) So clear. (31:51) Muhammad couldn't do this. (31:53) How will he keep track of the word God in the Quran without computers when we made mistakes? (31:59) And it's already in front of us. (32:07) Verse 7. (32:09) Those who disbelieve claim that they will not be resurrected. (32:13) Yes indeed by my Lord you will be resurrected and you will be held accountable for everything you have done. (32:20) This is easy for God to do. (32:24) And God set the system so it is automatic. (32:29) Tomorrow morning before sunrise you're going to have two choices to make. (32:33) You have a decision to make. (32:35) You're going to get up before sunrise and do the morning prayer or you will not. (32:39) Only two choices. (32:41) If you force your body to get out of bed and do the morning prayer you will grow. (32:46) Your soul will grow. (32:50) And to put it in our world's terms you will make a deposit in your post-retirement account. (32:58) A few million dollars. (33:00) Just for that one prayer tomorrow. (33:03) It's actually more than that. (33:04) I'm just using these numbers of this world. (33:07) The other choice is that you become a slave of your body and you sleep because your body is telling you oh it's so much fun to be in the pillow. (33:15) Your body is telling you that. (33:18) So if you're a slave of your body you're going to sleep. (33:21) And you lose. (33:22) Because the body is going to go to dust. (33:25) You are going to live on with your growth and development or your shrunken condition. (33:30) God made it automatic. (33:33) So in the very end you're going to be born into the hereafter what? (33:38) Either developed, complete person or deformed, shrunken person. (33:46) It's in your hand. (33:57) Those who disbelieve claim that they will not be resurrected. (34:00) Yes indeed by my lord. (34:01) Remember these are mathematically composed letters. (34:06) God is telling them. (34:08) Yes indeed by my lord. (34:10) This is the Quran speaking by the way. (34:12) Yes indeed by my lord. (34:15) You will be resurrected and you will be held accountable. (34:19) You will be held accountable in this manner. (34:22) Remember in surah 17 where it says nobody will need to be asked what wrong did you do? (34:27) It will be obvious who developed and who did not develop. (34:34) In surah 55 remember the verse that says on that day the guilty will not be asked about any of their guilt or their sins. (34:42) You don't need to. (34:45) Also in surah 17 we learn that the differences in the hereafter will be fantastic. (34:52) It will be great. (34:56) See the difference between Hani, a child and his father is five feet. (35:02) In this word, five feet. (35:05) But in the hereafter the difference between the people will be like somebody will be as big as a cat and the other will be as big as Phoenix Arizona or the state of Arizona. (35:14) So the person as big as a cat you're going to ask him what did he do wrong? (35:19) It's obvious. (35:21) The difference will be huge. (35:26) We're really tiny. (35:27) We are very tiny. (35:33) An angel can hold the earth in his hand. (35:35) And you can be as big as that. (35:38) Remember we were all in the same company billions of years ago. (35:44) Yes indeed by my lord you will be resurrected and you'll be held accountable for everything you have done. (35:50) This is easy for God to do. (35:51) In fact it's already done. (35:56) On the day of judgment when God comes to our world the people will be automatically stratified according to their size degree and development. (36:07) If you're strong enough you'll be able to stand the presence of God and you will enjoy it. (36:11) You'll be in heaven. (36:13) If you fail to develop yourself I'm not talking to you of course it's the people in the streets who need to know that. (36:21) But the people who fail to develop themselves will have to run away from God. (36:26) They cannot stand the presence of God. (36:28) Too much energy. (36:32) And that's why God is advising us to do the five prayers, to fast the month of Ramadan, to be charitable do all this. (36:39) He gave us specific things to develop our soul for our good. (36:44) Because see the end of the verse? (36:48) Verse six, excuse me. (36:49) God is in no need. (36:53) He doesn't want to bother you and have you get up before sunrise just to annoy you. (37:01) Why does God want you to get up before sunrise? (37:05) What does He benefit from that? (37:08) Nothing. (37:10) It's you who will benefit from that. (37:13) As a matter of fact, my nephew was complaining the specific problem was the depression that gets depressed once a month or so. (37:22) And this is directly related, if you remember Douglas' khutbah it is directly related to being up in the morning, early. (37:31) Remember the hat with the light? (37:34) And that research that was done indicated that people who had extra light in the morning, not at night. (37:40) This right, Douglas? (37:41) In the morning. (37:42) So it's not just you cannot lengthen the day from the night side. (37:47) It is getting up early in the morning that induces certain chemicals in your head and causes the depression or not. (37:59) There is a direct correlation those who study statistics, the correlation is 1.0 between sleeping too much and headaches and depression. (38:10) If you sleep more than eight hours a day, you are guaranteed to have headaches and maybe depression. (38:19) God is advising you for your own good. (38:24) God is in no need. (38:28) Number eight. (38:30) Therefore, if you are smart, you shall believe in God and His Messenger. (38:38) And the light that we have revealed herein, God is fully cognizant of everything you do. (38:45) It's God's message to the people. (38:49) After showing us the positive incentives and the negative incentives, God is giving you the conclusion. (38:58) Therefore, you shall believe in God and His Messenger. (39:00) Why does God want you to believe if He doesn't need us? (39:06) It's because He loves us. (39:10) God loves you. (39:11) He wants you to believe and follow this light of the Quran to be redeemed, to be saved, to be happy here in this world and in the hereafter. (39:22) You see this verse that talks about retribution? (39:26) In verse five. (39:30) You see, a lot of people make a mistake thinking that they have to die first and go to the grave for millions of years and then get up before they receive their reward or their punishment. (39:42) And they say, oh, go forget it. (39:43) Come on. (39:45) For millions of years they think. (39:46) They don't realize that the happiness and the retribution happen here. (39:51) It is repeated so many times throughout the Quran that we pay here. (39:56) It starts here. (39:57) When you make deposit in your post-retirement account, you draw interest here and benefits in this world. (40:06) Therefore, you shall believe in God and His Messenger and the light that we have revealed herein. (40:10) God is fully cognizant of everything you do. (40:13) Number nine. (40:15) The day will come when He summons you to the day of summoning. (40:18) That is the day of mutual blaming. (40:20) Here you have two names of the day of judgment. (40:23) The day of summoning. (40:25) You will be summoned. (40:27) It is as sure as the sunrise tomorrow morning. (40:32) All of us, past, present and future generations will be summoned before God. (40:37) And that's the day of mutual blaming. (40:42) Anyone who believes in God and leads a righteous life, God will remit his sins and will admit him into gardens with flowing streams. (40:51) They abide therein forever. (40:53) This is the greatest triumph. (40:58) So our part is so easy. (41:01) And this is why mutual blaming. (41:02) Because people who did not believe will find someone who misled them, took them away from the redemption. (41:13) I'm going to stop here and see if... Speaker 3 (41:30) So one of the ways he does that is that he sends angels to protect. (42:27) Verse 7. (42:28) The spoils of war that God bestows upon his messenger from the banished inhabitants of the town shall go to God and the messenger in this way by the rich among you. (42:54) God is strict and important. (42:58) The spoils shall also go to the poor immigrants who are evicted from their home in pleasure in supporting God and His messengers. (43:23) The spoils of war shouldn't be given to the rich to make them richer and more powerful. (43:51) You know, the rich just got richer and more powerful and more sparing. (44:04) So he says... Speaker 1 (44:11) ... (44:13) ... (44:37) So it is a misinterpretation of this law for abuse. (44:46) One of the most abused verses in the Quran is verse 7 where it says whatever the messenger gives you you should take. (45:07) All the sects of Islam in surah 6 verse 159 it says both sects by their own admission. (45:24) You ask, what are you? (45:25) I am a Sunni. (45:26) Who is going to say that and give them judgment? (45:29) What are you? (45:30) I am a Sunni. (45:31) What are you? (45:31) I am a Shiite. (45:34) You don't say Muslim. (45:37) So both of them abuse these verses. (45:40) I do go along with them. (45:47) I say, OK, what the messenger gives you... Speaker 5 (46:23) OK, we'll go back to verse 9. (46:25) ... Speaker 3 (46:30) ... (46:42) ... (46:50) ... (46:54) ... (46:59) ... (47:00) ... (47:01) ... (47:02) ... (47:13) ... (47:14) ... (47:22) ... (48:01) ... (48:02) Believers, hang together. (48:06) There's a verse, I wrote it down, 3-1. (48:25) You shall hold fast to the rope of God altogether and do not be divided. (48:29) Be appreciative of God's favors upon you. (48:32) You used to be enemies and he reconciled your hearts by his grace. (48:37) You became brethren. (48:38) God thus explains the revelations for you that you may be believers, should you be not. (49:04) Then it goes on to the hypocrites said to their allies. Speaker 1 (49:09) This gives me a chance to thank God. (49:24) We're proud of something that our community does. (49:26) It's a perfect example of living. (49:30) We all know Emily. (49:31) She works Friday nights. (49:36) She packed everything in New York and she moved here. (49:47) During all this time when she needed help, this drawer was full of envelopes with Emily's name on it. (49:57) She kept them on her feet. (50:01) I don't know who all those people are, but we're a small community. (50:05) This drawer had enough support for Emily. (50:09) It was sealed envelopes with her name on it. (50:23) Join the believers who are established. (50:27) Help them. (50:28) And I know, I mean, this is not the only example. (50:33) This would always happen. (50:34) This always happened in the past. (50:36) And it happens naturally. (50:38) When you're a believer, God guides you when to do this. (50:44) And also I want to go back to the, I think we learn best by the real-life examples of things that happened to us. (50:54) I'm sure Lori will look back sometime. (50:59) But there's an example of an invisible giant who was with you. (51:04) Lori was in an accident. (51:06) She was thrown out of the car. (51:09) And then she took care of the driver. (51:11) Her sister was driving. (51:13) And her sister went to the hospital. (51:14) Nothing happened to her. (51:17) You're thrown out of a car. (51:19) You'll hit something or something will hit you. (51:21) But no, nothing. (51:22) You can imagine the invisible giant was carrying her outside in perfect safety. (51:29) This was a nearby track record. (51:31) So many, many... (52:07) These were people who were fighting each other. (52:15) They were trying to kill each other. (52:23) People who killed my brother, my cousin, my father. (52:31) But this guy killed my father. (52:33) In those days, they didn't understand what was going on. Speaker 7 (52:57) Muslims as being horrible people. (53:00) And then God chooses to guide you to His due to love. Speaker 3 (53:18) This is between personalities. (53:47) As a family. (53:59) Hypocrites said to their allies, who disbelieved among the followers of the previous banished, we will run against you. (54:11) If we are fought against, we will support you. Speaker 5 (54:43) It's a choice of filmmaking. Speaker 1 (54:45) We study our surroundings. (56:06) The definition of a hypocrite is one who says that he is a believer when in his or her heart are not believers. (56:14) They say they are believers. (56:17) Usually they don't know. (56:23) So God gives us criteria. Speaker 5 (56:29) I know now for a fact, to run some experiments. Speaker 1 (56:49) The last time I challenged the person, you are forbidden by God from saying, when God alone is mentioned, they don't believe. (57:28) One who says, he doesn't believe. (57:46) Because they are more damaging. Speaker 5 (58:13) They didn't call themselves a hypocrite. Speaker 1 (58:16) They never called themselves a hypocrite. (58:19) There is nobody on earth who thinks that he or she is going to help. Speaker 5 (58:24) But we know from the Quran that the majority will. Speaker 1 (58:34) First, before you say anything, I confused you with Mohsen Bin Yadl. (58:38) Really? (58:39) I called you Mohsen. Speaker 5 (58:47) You see, you and Mohsen are very close. (58:52) Why did you call him here? (59:07) I just saw him the other day as well. Speaker 8 (59:19) That is exciting. Speaker 6 (59:21) There is a statement in surah 4 that says, the hypocrites are in the lowest pit. Speaker 5 (59:50) A good example of the hypocrite, if I may say so, is Khomeini, for example. Speaker 1 (1:00:26) Because before the whole world, the whole world looks at them as Muslims. (1:00:31) They are acting in the name of Islam. Speaker 5 (1:00:33) And in the last four weeks, they executed 400 people in this maximum 400 in four weeks. Speaker 1 (1:00:47) Now the trial takes one week. Speaker 4 (1:00:48) They were everywhere. (1:01:06) They saw. (1:01:18) They don't like somebody was killed. (1:01:20) Because when they kill some of these, because we are here, we don't know. (1:01:33) She is not in this. (1:01:38) That was the letter I have found. (1:01:44) The drug is over there. (1:01:46) Because of the drug, it's all over there. (1:01:55) It leads to worse things. (1:02:08) When you can buy it, cheaper than that. (1:02:15) But who said that drug addicts or drug dealers are going to save the country? (1:02:31) I don't know. (1:02:32) I don't know that. Speaker 5 (1:03:18) They are addicted to drugs? Speaker 1 (1:03:27) Well, I don't know. (1:03:32) But 10 or 15% of the Egyptians have been smoking hashish for the last three years. Speaker 5 (1:03:41) This is their problem. Speaker 1 (1:03:45) Okay, back to Dana and verses one. Speaker 3 (1:03:49) Well, I'd like to point out that Satan says disbelieve. Speaker 5 (1:04:07) I don't even know anything right now. Speaker 3 (1:04:10) And it's a very strong verse. (1:04:11) So I would like to control things. (1:04:34) Serve God. (1:04:35) For God is those who deserve heaven. (1:04:56) As Muslims, it's about what we are doing. (1:05:11) Make sure that we are on the right track. (1:05:21) And our prayers help us do that. (1:05:30) It keeps us from falling into sin. (1:05:36) Then in verse 19, it says Do not be like pick your job or whatever is the most. (1:06:04) Think about something other than God. (1:06:18) Or occupy your mind with. (1:06:22) So feed your own soul. (1:06:33) You know, we aren't thinking about God so that he can make an equation, you know. (1:06:44) It's a balance, kind of. (1:06:50) You starve your soul. (1:06:54) Pick some other God. (1:06:59) Those who pick other gods. Speaker 1 (1:07:08) That's asking God for forgiveness in itself is an act of remembering God. (1:07:13) I want to give you an analogy from this life. (1:07:17) Just think what David Dixon is doing to guarantee a good life. (1:07:27) We seek refuge in God from Satan whose end is nearing. (1:07:34) Inshallah. (1:07:37) In the name of God most gracious most merciful. (1:07:43) Tonight we start with surah 70. (1:07:47) And maybe beyond, depending on our teacher, a deep yuksayot. (1:07:53) Take it away. Speaker 2 (1:08:03) A questioner may question. Speaker 1 (1:08:04) Surah 26 prohibits reading Quran in Arabic for non-Arabic people. (1:08:09) Surah 26. Speaker 6 (1:08:10) What? (1:08:10) 26? Speaker 1 (1:08:12) Yep. (1:08:12) You didn't know that? (1:08:18) He knows everything, that's why. (1:08:22) In surah 26, remember this. (1:08:25) It says, do not, prohibits the reading of Quran in the language other than what the people understand. (1:08:33) Because it says that, in fact it says, no, it doesn't say that. (1:08:40) I was going to say it sounds Chinese to them. (1:08:42) It sounds like a different... (1:08:44) God says they will not be blamed if they don't believe if you read it to them in a different language. (1:08:50) Okay, back to Adib. Speaker 2 (1:08:52) A questioner may question the inevitable retribution for the disbelievers. (1:08:59) None can stop it. (1:09:01) From God, possessor of the highest height. (1:09:07) The angels, with their report, climb to him in a day that equals 50,000 years. (1:09:15) This question has always been questioned by messengers. (1:09:22) About the last day, about the end of the world. (1:09:29) Always people have been ridiculed this day. (1:09:32) But in the future, close to the end of the world, for example, about 200 or 250 years later, this question will be very widespread and everybody will ask this question. (1:09:53) And millions or billions of Muslims will discuss this subject with disbelievers. (1:10:00) And all verses about the end of the world will become a real fact. (1:10:08) And the believers will know the end of the world. (1:10:14) And the unbelievers will ridicule this, will mock at them. (1:10:19) And they will create a great dispute between believers and unbelievers. (1:10:30) But we now also discuss this matter. (1:10:35) And when we say the end of the world will be in that time, unbelievers, all unbelievers, will ridicule us. (1:10:45) They will ask, when? (1:10:48) Here God, our God, gives us the relativity of the time says, a day, heaven, have 50,000 years, your years. (1:11:17) In other words, we see that this may be 1,000 years. (1:11:23) These two different scales show us that time is not absolute. (1:11:30) It is relative. (1:11:32) It is relative. (1:11:34) For example, I think everything is relative to us. (1:11:39) For example, heat is relative to our heat. (1:11:48) We have 37 Celsius degree. (1:11:52) If the weather more than this, it is heat to us. (1:11:58) But if less than this, it is cold to us, the weather. (1:12:02) For example, the density of our meat, what do you say, flesh, the density of our flesh, it has a density. (1:12:21) And if we touch something that has more density, we say this is hard, solid. (1:12:28) And if less than it, we say it is soft. (1:12:31) And we compare, we get information about our environment by our possessions, yes. (1:12:46) Standards. (1:12:46) Standards, yes, thanks. (1:12:48) And also, our standard is our life. (1:12:51) We live about 70 years in this world. (1:12:56) Our scale is the 70 years. (1:13:00) A fly, the standard of fly is 3 months, about 3 months. (1:13:05) 3 months of a fly is equal to 50 years. Speaker 1 (1:13:13) How old are dogs living? (1:13:16) The oldest one is how old? (1:13:19) In human life is? (1:13:24) OK, so this is what they eat meat. (1:13:28) So the dogs are scared, yes. Speaker 2 (1:13:32) And here, in the first part, there is a word that has 2 or 4 meanings, 2 or 3 meanings, word Ruh. (1:13:46) It has been translated as report, reports, or revelation. (1:13:53) In Quran, we can find these words used for revelation or for Gabriel, for Gabriel, an angel. (1:14:04) It has both 2 meanings. (1:14:06) And here, Rashad has translated it as with their reports. (1:14:17) That's all. (1:14:19) Do you have any questions about these 4 verses? Speaker 8 (1:14:25) May I? Speaker 1 (1:14:27) I think we should point out here that Gabriel is the only, this is his only job, and he is the only one who does the job of carrying revelations from God to the world. (1:14:36) Any new information? (1:14:40) Or new revelations? (1:14:42) Something that was never known before comes from God to this world through Gabriel. (1:14:46) So this is why one of his names is the spirit, or the revelation. (1:14:55) Because when God says, I blew into Adam from my spirit, it's a word. (1:15:00) Jesus called the word from God because he was created by a word. (1:15:06) The, a word from God. (1:15:08) The, and he was. (1:15:09) The same with Adam. (1:15:11) And Gabriel brought that word to Mary, if you remember. (1:15:15) So, but here the angels go to the first universe, carrying reports about things happening here as well. (1:15:28) And they were given the relative speed, you know, just like Lydia said, the dog is ten years, but in human terms, it would be 60 years. (1:15:38) We're told here that if you travel a distance in one day, the angels will, in 50,000 years, the angels will cut it in one day. (1:15:48) In Carl Sagan's last novel, he concluded that the speed of light is very slow. (1:15:56) It really is, because nothing would be done in the universe if things were happening at the speed of light. (1:16:01) And we, our favorite example here is the Prophet Muhammad's ascension to the first universe. (1:16:07) If he were traveling at the speed of light, he would still be in one hundredth of the Milky Way galaxy. (1:16:14) He would still be going on his way. (1:16:16) Of course, that did not happen. (1:16:18) He went and came in the same night. (1:16:20) God took him up in the same night. Speaker 2 (1:16:24) There is a famous equation about the relativity of the, according to this equation, when you exceed the speed of light, there is no time. (1:16:36) The time becomes zero. Speaker 1 (1:16:39) So this is the theory of relativity, if I understand. (1:16:42) If you travel, if you travel at the speed of light, time disappears. (1:16:49) If you travel faster than the speed of light, you can go into the negative. (1:16:53) It may be wrong. (1:16:55) Huh? (1:16:55) It may be wrong. (1:16:56) No, not wrong. (1:16:57) Let us say, let me explain it very quickly. (1:17:03) Our picture travels at the speed of light. (1:17:05) If you turn the light on, I will see it at the speed of light. (1:17:10) So the person, Mahmoud will see this later than me, for this fraction of a second. (1:17:15) So once I turn this light on, I will see it first, then Mahmoud will see it, because it is traveling at the speed of light. (1:17:21) Our picture is traveling at the speed of light. (1:17:24) If the sun is turned off for a second, he will see this after 8 minutes, because it will take 8 minutes for the light. (1:17:33) So the picture of anything travels at the speed of light. (1:17:37) So let us say a thief scratched his ear and then sneezed. (1:17:43) Scratched his ear and then sneezed. (1:17:46) Now this, somebody is taking a picture from a mile away. (1:17:49) Let us say, somebody can take a picture from a mile away. (1:17:52) When he scratched his ear, after a fraction of a second, the camera will see that and take a picture, because his picture is traveling at the speed of light. (1:18:03) So at the speed of light from here to there, it will take a certain amount of time, and then after that he will sneeze. (1:18:09) So let us say I am here, and I am going to travel with this picture at the speed of light. (1:18:15) So if he is scratching his ear and then traveling with that picture at the speed of light, it will always see him frozen at that position. (1:18:22) Does this make sense? (1:18:24) Because I am traveling with him at the speed of light. (1:18:26) That picture will be still. (1:18:30) Let us say he sneezed before he scratched his ear. (1:18:33) But if I go faster now at the speed of light, I will see his picture when he sneezed before that. (1:18:42) Did I confuse everybody? (1:18:45) So I am traveling with him at the speed of light as he was scratching his ear. (1:18:48) But if I travel faster at the speed of light, I will see his picture when he sneezed, which was a few seconds before he scratched his ear. (1:18:55) So I go in the past. (1:18:57) But I am going faster than the speed of light. (1:19:00) If I go even faster than that, I will see him put his glasses on, which is something that happened before he scratched his ear. (1:19:07) So let us say even if I walked in the room as he was scratching his ear, and then I take off with this picture at the speed of light, I will see what happened in the past before I came into the room. (1:19:19) I am trying to simplify it. (1:19:20) I have probably complicated it. (1:19:26) But if you go at the speed of light, time will stand still. (1:19:30) I will always see him holding his... (1:19:31) If I travel at the speed of light, time stands still. (1:19:34) He is holding his ear. (1:19:37) If I go faster, I will see what he did before I came into the room. (1:19:41) He sneezed, he put his glasses on, whatever happened before. (1:19:45) May I give you an example? (1:19:46) OK. (1:19:47) Confuse us more. Speaker 2 (1:19:56) 1,400 light years far away from us. (1:20:02) Let's think of a star. (1:20:03) There are many stars that are farther away. (1:20:07) From that star, let's think that there is a civilization. (1:20:12) Or we went there, but just now we are there. (1:20:15) And we are taking the photo of this Earth with a very sophisticated telescope and detail. (1:20:23) We could get a picture of people, persons. (1:20:27) And we could take the picture of Muhammad and the bottle of water from that star. (1:20:36) It is possible, but impossible. (1:20:38) Those persons are traveling in space now. (1:20:40) Yes, because it will... Speaker 1 (1:20:44) To reach that star only now. (1:20:46) Yes, only now. (1:20:47) Things that were happening 1,400 years ago are reaching objects in heaven that are 1,400 light years away. (1:20:55) It's true. (1:20:57) Also, if that star explodes right now, we will not see it for 1,400 years. (1:21:01) Yes. (1:21:02) Because that's how long it will take for the speed of light to come here. (1:21:06) The speed of light is very slow. (1:21:09) And what was told here in verse 4, that the angels travel... (1:21:15) What we spend 50,000 years traveling, if we travel at our maximum speed, which is the speed of light, the angels will do it in one day. (1:21:28) And by the way, this is not a fixed relationship, because it can be different. (1:21:34) It depends on where you are in the universe. (1:21:37) For example, you go to the moon, your day will be 14 of our days. (1:21:41) This is something we can do now. (1:21:42) We can go to the moon. (1:21:43) And you're going to have 14 of our days in continuous day, light. (1:21:48) And then 14 nights, 14 days that equal one night on the moon. (1:21:53) If you go to Jupiter, you're going to have 365 days of light. (1:21:56) The day equals one of our years. (1:22:00) And even on Earth, if you go to Alaska, you're going to have six months a day. (1:22:03) No, but this is different. (1:22:05) So it depends on where you are in the universe that our day is different compared to their day. (1:22:14) Back to Idil. Speaker 2 (1:22:17) Verse 5. (1:22:19) Therefore, you shall resort to a gracious patience. (1:22:23) You must be patient, a gracious patience. (1:22:27) For they see it far away, while we see it very close. (1:22:34) The day will come when the sky will be like molten rocks, will be like lava. (1:22:40) The mountains will be like fluffy wool. (1:22:44) No friend will care about his close friend. (1:22:50) When they see them, the guilty will wish he could give his own children as ransom to spare him the retribution of that day. (1:23:00) Also his spouse and his brother, even his full tribe that raised him, even all the people on Earth, if it would save him. (1:23:15) Here we see the horror of that day, that people will give up from everything that he likes.
