Messenger Audio 39 (4-Feb-1983)
Each generation is going to understand something new in the Quran that was unknown previously. Arabs were given the Quran and chose to abandon it.
(0:00) That they follow the Quran. This is why God says, right after denying, disbelieving in God's revelation, He says nothing is concealed from God. (0:15) Because He knows what their hearts are doing, whether they are really believing or not. (0:20) And based on that, they are isolated from Quran, they cannot see it. (0:31) The other points were covered very nicely by Latifa. (0:44) The allegorical verses are things that we may not be able to understand or fully comprehend yet. (0:54) There were generations who didn't understand what God meant by the earth being egg-shaped. (1:01) That didn't make sense to them. (1:04) And had they wasted their time trying to interpret that, they'd just do that, waste their time. (1:12) And they may end up confused. (1:17) There are things in Quran now that we cannot comprehend. (1:23) So God reserves these to future generations. (1:27) Because every generation has to see something new in the Quran. (1:31) But for our purposes, we have a certain understanding of them. (1:37) And we have to be content and satisfied with those. (1:41) As long as we're not digging and causing a lot of confusion. (1:45) I mean, it's perfectly right to study the Quran and try to understand everything. (1:49) Without confusing ourselves. (2:02) The past generations, for example, they didn't understand what the number 19 meant. (2:08) They had no way of knowing what the number 19 meant. (2:11) So God gave them a temporary understanding that they are possibly the guards of hell. 19.(2:20) After the number 19, God gives a general statement that the guards of hell are angels. (2:25) It's just a general statement. (2:27) And that statement serves to give them a satisfactory interpretation of the Quran. (2:34) For understanding. (2:37) Because God knows that it is not important whether the people know that hell is guarded by 19 or 19 million or what. (2:46) It's not a crucial thing to the doctrine or the worship of God alone. (2:56) At the end of verse 7 here, it says, (3:00) Indeed, only those who possess intelligence will take heed. (3:06) People who do not read the Quran, people who do not believe in God, people who do not worship God alone, they have to be stupid. (3:17) They are not intelligent. (3:20) God who is holding the seven universes in his hand, and they leave him and they seek the wisdom of a human being who lived on earth a hundred years, who was very tiny, helpless. (3:35) That has to be stupid. (3:37) God has only created the heavens and the earth, the sun and the moon. (3:42) He knows what the sun and the moon are doing. (3:45) But they go seek the wisdom of a man who didn't know where the sun is coming from. (3:51) The sun rises every day from the east. (3:56) They used to think it's a new sun. (4:01) And you don't blame them for that. (4:03) That was the extent of their knowledge. (4:05) But to go to them for wisdom, that's not intelligent. (4:10) So only those who are intelligent will worship God alone. (4:17) Eight and nine are wonderful prayers that you can use anytime. (4:36) Well, say to those who disbelieve, you will be defeated. (4:43) You will end up in hell and the miserable abode. (4:54) And the book of Quran and Hadith that you will see at the end, an advertisement for the book itself was just put in the bag. (5:08) And it asks the question, does it make any sense that three million Israelis defeat, consistently defeat 150 million Arabs? (5:17) Consistently. (5:20) I mean, even on the physical level, it doesn't make sense. (5:27) But this is what God says, well, because those people were given the Quran. (5:33) When you are given the Quran, your responsibility is immediately doubled. (5:40) There are people in this country who come to Islam and they come to Quran and then they end up following Hadith and Sunnah. (5:47) These people are in bad shape. (5:50) They are much better off as Christians, worshiping Jesus. (5:55) Because when they are handed the Quran, where practically every page says worship God alone, don't go to anything else, then the responsibility is multiplied many folds. (6:09) The Quran is a fantastic blessing or a fantastic disaster, depending on if you uphold it or not. (6:22) So the Arabs were given the Quran and they chose to abandon it. (6:29) That's disastrous. They don't need it. (6:33) So number 12 applies to them. (6:35) Say to those who disbelieve, you will be defeated. (6:41) Then end up in hell and the miserable abode. (6:44) This is God's promise and it doesn't matter what the physical statistics say. (6:50) You may be 200 million, but you disbelieved God when he said the Quran is complete and perfect. (6:58) You will be defeated. (7:00) Doesn't matter how many you are, how rich you are, how many weapons you have, how much weapons you have. (7:12) 200 million Arabs. (7:16) And God gave them so much wealth. (7:20) Just to make all the physical statistics on their side. (7:26) Yet they keep losing. (7:29) Consistently defeated. (7:31) And it's because they abandoned the Quran. (7:34) The Quran is in their tongue, in arabic. (7:39) But they don't need it. (7:43) Mujahid demonstrated that to them last night. (7:47) Which words do you take? (7:48) Do you take the words of God or the words of someone who said that the Prophet said? (7:55) I go a step further and say, do you take the words of God or the words of the Prophet? (7:59) If the Prophet walks through this door and shows you his passport, proving that he is Muhammad, the son of Abdullah, (8:05) and he tells you something that's different from the Quran, (8:08) are you going to take the words of God or the words of Muhammad? (8:12) I would put the question that way. (8:13) But of course, Mujahid was trying to prove to them that the Hadith is not even Muhammad. (8:19) The Hadith doesn't prove that it's Muhammad. (8:23) As you will see in the last page of that book that is coming. (8:27) I said Muhammad's Hadiths are not Muhammad's. (8:30) They are the Hadiths of people whose grandparents, even the grandparents of their grandparents, never saw the Quran. (8:40) This is what really Hadith is. (8:43) So Mujahid was trying to prove that point. (8:47) Do you follow what God said or do you follow things that were said by people who said that the Prophet said? (8:56) Among those 200 million Arabs, I'm sure if somebody shows you the truth, I'm sure so many of them will see the truth. (9:12) So he will not survive to tell it. (9:17) Some other way, but I know what he's saying. (9:23) I can't say right away, but there must be some way. (9:30) Inshallah God will find a way. (9:35) You were talking the other night with the Christians. (9:39) They were talking about Peter, Paul, Joseph, the seven. (9:47) But they say that Jesus hasn't been able to say that. (9:50) Couldn't that be considered like Hadith? (9:52) Yeah, that's what it is. (9:54) It's not the Hadith of Jesus either. (9:57) It's the Hadith of Mark, Luke, Matthew, and John. (10:01) That's what the Gospels are. (10:04) These are the canonized books. (10:06) They're canonized because in the conferences of Nicea, they collected all the scriptures of Jesus, the true and the false. (10:17) And they canonized these four and burned everything else. (10:22) And they established the doctrine of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (10:28) And if you don't believe it, you go to any encyclopedia or even some dictionaries under Nicea. (10:37) I have a book called The Time of the Byzantines. (10:41) The Byzantine author. (10:47) There were Christians in Egypt in some time. (10:52) Worshipping one God alone. (10:54) And he said that Jesus was a messenger from God made. (11:00) Well, even nowadays we have these six great Christian scholars, Muslims. (11:08) I mean, they are very respected scholars. (11:11) Who wrote the book The Myth of God Incarnate. (11:14) And they are censured and cast and everything else by the rest of the Christian world. (11:23) But verse 12 explains the defeat of the Arabs. (11:32) Wali, you want to compete with Latifa and take the next page? (11:41) She's a tough act to follow, but you can do it. (11:53) An example has been set for you by two armies. (11:58) Two clans. (11:59) One was fighting in the cause of God. (12:02) While the other consisted of disbelievers. (12:06) They saw each other twice as men, but disbelieved in him. (12:11) God supports whomever he will. (12:15) This is a lesson for those who can see. (12:18) Adorned in the eyes of the people is the love of God.
